Japanese Teaching in Japan
2008 / 06 / 17 ( Tue )
It has been so busy at work,, I feel like I just let everything go these days..

Last Thursday, the Japanese class day, it happens at last,,
I totally forgot about the class and I left my city for business trip,
I've got a call at a hotel room, saying "where are you? your students are all here"
I've NEVER done this before and felt sooooo terrible,,

Now I'm teaching real beginner's course. There are 3 Chinese and 1 Thai.
Except for 1 Chinese boy, they are all my age, late 20's to early 30's,
and they are all with their japanese hasband.
I imagin that is so hard living in other country, hardly understanding no language,,
not to having any social relationship, no friends,,,
They are-people in my class- kind of in good situation,
because their hasband let them go to this kind of class and they meet some people, too.
But I'm sure there are so many people living in harder situation.
I found that I need to get to know which organization I can introduce for each problems,
I'm sure I can't figure all problems out all by my self
but it should be really important to share those infos among teachers.
Just because I'm Japanese, I can do many things here!

Teaching Australia
http://www.teachingaustralia.edu.au/ta/go/home/links/accreditation

You have to register when you work as a teacher in Australia,
This is a link of the place where you register in each states.
It seems like there're various conditions.
Especially, it seems like minimum request to have IELTS score overall 7.0.
Better have one before starting.

My Career> Salary >Education
http://content.mycareer.com.au/salary-centre/education/

I found an interesting site!
You can see how the salary's like depends occupations in Australia.
In educational field, it seems like little smaller salary in Australia compare with in Japan.
It's no point to compare though..

Each Path for Each
2008 / 04 / 19 ( Sat )
I had a big Friday night with my friends from a volunteer group.
We first met 2003 when we were trainee for Japan Oversea Cooporation Volunteer,
We had sent each developing countries for 2 years
and in 2005, we all got back to Japan from everywhere
I have a lots of friends from that,
but today I will talk about my friends who registered as Japanese Teacher.

Miss Leaf,
She started to work as an assistant at a cityhall,
she stayed there for few months as I remember,
then, she moved to one little city where my hometown is,
because she got a part time position at a private highschool as a Japanese Teacher.
She had double works because it was not enough for her to live for 2 years,
but yesterday, she told me she finally got a full time position
which is really luckey for her according she told us.
There is only 1 position for full time at her school,
but the full time teacher decided leave because of her marrige this time.
She said it this way, but more of that, I really respect her way to do things
like, moved to new place for a part time position which she liked, but
she also had to work in a shop, in a factory for living.
besides she never knew if there are some chanse to be full time,
I know how much she liked teaching, but it is a Lot.
so I really feel she deserve all of this.

Miss Napoka
When she finished her contract as a volunteer,
she've already got a new contract at uni in Ireland.
She was always saying that she prefer studying to teaching.
So we were all happy that she got a ideal position!
After finishing the contract at Ireland,
She moved to England, and got a new position at uni.
She already had a master's degree when we met,
I don't really keep in touch with her
but I believe she is getting doctor's degree, too.
or maybe she might had finished it!

Mr SK from 8th Apr.
He has really interesting history about himself.
He worked in a publish company as a editor originally,
but he turned into teaching Japanese
as he was saying he was fasinated with Japanese!
He volunteered in uni for 3 years and
he changed his career to teaching Japanese as a fisrt language.
Then, he passed public full time position,
and he teaches Japanese in a high school now!

Miss Hung
Just as she told me in 2003,
She straight got into Graduate Uni after 2years volunteer.
She got Master's degree and started to work
as a part time Japanese teacher in a language school now.

Ms Maple
She was an assistant director for a long time,
but she had enough for woking.
and she decided to get a qualification for teaching Japanese
which she always wanted to try.
Then she joined the volunteer for 2 years.
After getting back to Japan,
She got married with a man from the volunteer group,
and now she's working as a office lady.

Miss Plov
Her boyfriend is in a project as an UN volunteer,so
She decided not to go back to Japan,
stayed with him there for 2 years again,
and now she moved to neighbor country
because she got a teaching position.
They are still together,
There is a border between them, but its not so far as a distanse!

Miss Kapriz
Soon after I finished volunteer work,
I flied to Melbourne, and started to work as a part time Japanese teacher,
I worked in a language school teaching adults at night,
and I also worked as a operator during the day.
1 year after, I back to Japan and get a current coordinating position.

We had different 2 years and now after another 2 years and more passed,
this is really interesting, but nobody doing same things!!!!
Anytime it is so nice getting together with them

See You in JPN
2008 / 04 / 08 ( Tue )
I have a great news today!!! I didn't mind raining at all today!! Because I've been waiting this day for a long time,, but it has just come like this!
One of my friends ICO finally arrived in Japan! I've worked in one little Eastern Europe country for few years and I met him through my friend at the first time.
I have to tell you first about the country, I think I can say that it is not FULL developped country. The country rapidly developping now for every points of view now, so my information might be a little old, but 2 years ago when I was there, full time techer's monthly income was $100-120, part time worker at McDonald's was $1/h in capital city. So, rent with 1 bedroom apartment in nice location was $70-140, foods, beer, they were cheap.
ICO was a uni student when we first met. ICO took Japanese course as his minor language subject and my friend SK was his teacher. ICO and SK were living in tiny town far from city. As SK told me, ICO was a only student who changed his minor language after taking his demo lessons. SK had only few students and they came for classes twice a week. But soon after, ICO started study by himself, followed SK with lots of questions all the time. Internet was not so popular and ICO had only one copied textbook, SK was a only person in the city, but ICO didn't stop learning. Because of the economical problem, coming to Japan is really impossible for ICO, but he started to dream about studying in Japan since then, The way he could come to Japan was not easy at all, The only way was to get a seat for govermental scholarship. There were only few seats every year, and except for him, everybody majored in Japanese, furthermore, student has to pass the exams before graduation, So chanses he get the seat was really really low, and only SK and ICO belived he can do it. This is just a starting of this story.
Last year, I spent a holiday there and I met ICO again. It's hard to acctually say to friends there"see you in Japan next time""come and visit me in Japan" and so on, because I really know it just sounds like not real. but ICO, he was a only person I could say that at the time and he was really on his way at the time, I never forget his calm but strong eye. When I think of him, I always feel I can do more. Think about how things he done just telling me really, nothing is impossible.
This ICO, he finally arrived here in Japan and his university is just 1-2 hours drive from my city! Besides SK is living just 1hour far from ICO as well!!! We are so excited to hang around together again!
